Playtesting – Studio Notes

These are any extra pieces of information associated with the playtesting.

Playtester One – Studio Member

What sort of ambience did you feel the game had?

It had a calm ambience.

What emotions did you feel while playing the game?

I felt calm and the start but bored towards the end.

How engaging did you find the game?

It was pretty engaging at the start but became a bit boring after a while.

How did you feel about the difficulty of the game?

I found that the game was pretty easy.

What mechanics worked/didn’t work and why?

All of them worked.

What would you add to the game?

I would add the experimentation that was in the design.

Did you see anything that you thought may have been a glitch?

Nothing noticeable.

 

Playtester Two – Studio Member

What sort of ambience did you feel the game had?

Pretty warm and fuzzy.

What emotions did you feel while playing the game?

A bit of joy and calm.

How engaging did you find the game?

I was pretty engaged while playing it.

How did you feel about the difficulty of the game?

Relatively easy.

What mechanics worked/didn’t work and why?

They all worked.

What would you add to the game?

We had heaps of extra mechanics that weren’t added to this game.

Did you see anything that you thought may have been a glitch?

Don’t think so.

 

Playtester Three – Naive

What sort of ambience did you feel the game had?

The colours made it look pretty warm in the easy parts and almost a bit angry at the harder parts.

What emotions did you feel while playing the game?

A little bit of adrenaline around the boss fights but mostly just neutral emotions throughout.

How engaging did you find the game?

It was slightly repetitive but had its good moments with the boss fights.

How did you feel about the difficulty of the game?

The difficulty way pretty average.

What mechanics worked/didn’t work and why?

They all seemed to work pretty well.

What would you add to the game?

Nothing.

Did you see anything that you thought may have been a glitch?

I don’t think so.

 

Playtester Four – Naive

What sort of ambience did you feel the game had?

The background seemed soft but got annoying.

What emotions did you feel while playing the game?

Pretty much constant frustration.

How engaging did you find the game?

I found it hard to get into the game when I kept dying.

How did you feel about the difficulty of the game?

Pretty hard. I kept dying.

What mechanics worked/didn’t work and why?

The difficulty would be fine for a normal game of this genre but this one feels like it should’ve been easier. Other than that it was fine.

What would you add to the game?

More lives or less enemies.

Did you see anything that you thought may have been a glitch?

The difficulty?

 

Playtester Five – Naive

What sort of ambience did you feel the game had?

It was relatively calming and had a very orangey vibe.

What emotions did you feel while playing the game?

Mostly just enjoyment. There wasn’t too many spikes in my emotions as the game was pretty constant.

How engaging did you find the game?

I found that the game was pretty engaging because it was easy to play but kept enough of a challenge to make it interesting.

How did you feel about the difficulty of the game?

It was enjoyably easy without being boring.

What mechanics worked/didn’t work and why?

They all worked well in the genre of the game.

What would you add to the game?

Nothing that I can think of.

Did you see anything that you thought may have been a glitch?

I don’t think so. The game wasn’t finished but all the mechanics that were there seemed to work.
